Well we spent Alex's mission fund and went to Brunei for Faaris' (aka yehudi) wedding to a moslem Brunei woman Cathy in a Mosque. Mike had to quick get a current passport. Things went quick we were making hotel reservations for Kuala Lumpur while we were waiting at the Vancouver airpot.
It is a very long flight from Vancouver to Shang hi.
My knees hurt bad. Shang hi was overwhelming. Immigration the tensest in all our travel. The people (spit) the coldest. The airport immense. Our Canadian airports pale in comparison. You would have 2 runways of jets as far as the eyes could see. We went on a tour of the Water village and to see the palace 'cept there wasn't much to see. Brunie is very small. Gas is cheap 53/ltr.
Pretty much everyone has cars and maids. The maids are of Endonesian or Philopino descent. Most service jobs are done by them and the Chinese. Mike got a great hair cut from an Indian for $4 with a head and shoulder's massage. Our Hotel had a spa and we got massages very different from the ones here.
The Malay people are wonderful and warm and bright. Cathy's family warm and accepting. Her aunt Roza hosted our farewell party (she has 3 maids). We took a tour of the water village. At Cathy's home we experienced a traditional prenuptial party. YOu take the above paints and dap it on their palms and then sprinkle the sweet grass. She has on a traditional robs that has real good woven into it.
It is warm there. It rains every night. The paper is censored and you can't drink the water. One of my favorite dishes was anchovies and peanuts.
What an experience what an opportunity of an lifetime
